Trial fit of the Aux panel

Final thing of the day was to trial fit the Auxiliary panel. It was all pre-fitted as per my previous post and was ready to install. Still waiting to install a few other items before it becomes permanent but looks good.

Rear light connections

Not a glamorous job but took a while and obviously needed doing. It was connecting the wires for the rear lights. To gain access it was a case of jacking the car up and then removing the wheel. This gave me the space I needed to work. As you can see the bolts were quite long so trimmed them down and also re-terminated the wires. They came with bullet tips and needed spade connectors so chopped them off and added the spades. Initially I left the wires at their full length but have trimmed them down and they will now have no excess when I connect them tomorrow.

And after...

Windscreen washer system

Following storm Dorris, today was a lovely warm day so went out for a few hours. I had the washer system waiting to be fitted so that was the first job of the day.  Quite straight forwards, I fitted the washer jet to the centre hole which was pre-cut into the scuttle. This simply screwed into place.

Next up was to run the pipe from the jet to the washer fluid bottle. Quite simple as I followed the route of the brake pipes so just clipped it to that. Im not sure that having the jet directly above the main fuse panel is a great design but then again I cant see me using the washers that often.

Finally was to fit the washer bottle. This was two rivnuts that went into the footwell. These were then covered with nut caps for the IVA. The washer bottle then slid onto the fitting and I reinforced it with a bit of foam to ensure it doesnt slip off.
